The project involved the construction of two 11kV switchrooms housing to banks of ABB ZS1 switchgear banks and HVAC units, alongside a control room accommodating two 415V Main Switchboards (MSBs), a communications panel, and a DC Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).

Operating within a fully operational mine presented significant challenges, requiring seamless coordination with other contractors onsite to ensure project completion. Furthermore, the project faced a stringent deadline due to a planned Western Power outage scheduled to enable integration into the existing power system.

Construction of these facilities took place at Murray Engineering’s advanced 50,000m² facility in Pinjarra and spanned approximately four months, involving a peak crew of 16 employees. On-site installation works were executed over a 10- week period with a crew of eight employees.

Murray Engineering’s expertise and proactive approach enabled the timely and efficient completion of the electrical upgrade project. By leveraging state-of-the-art facilities and skilled personnel, the company demonstrated its capability to deliver complex engineering solutions within demanding operational environments. The successful execution of this project contributed to the continued operations and growth of the mine site.
