DETAILS AT A GLANCE
- 1500m cable length and 28 tonne weight
- 11,000V 350A electrical supply
- Suspended from the surface only
- 11kV switchgear enclosure included
- Unique cable clamps designed specifically for the job to reduce borehole size by 30%
- This is the second vertical cable install completed by Murray Engineering at the client’s mine site
CHALLENGE & SOLUTION:
The mine site is the deepest operating mechanised mine in Australia. The client recognised that this would result in a huge cost to install electrical cable via traditional methods (i.e. decline and service hole). Murray Engineering was engaged to install a second vertical cable from the surface, with zero interruptions to daily mining operations or ore haulage. The Murray Engineering team designed and installed concrete footings, a winch assembly, sheave assembly and final support structure. Murray also developed the installation methodology, and commissioned the project on site, including civil works.
